DIY foam hand soap

I got the direction for diy foam soap at this site http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/l.  This is an awesome site for lots of things.
What you need:  empty hand foam soap bottle, dish soap( I used scented dial soap), and water.

What to do: Put 1Tbls-2Tbls of soap into bottle, next add hot water.  Leave some room at the top.  Now shake.  Last give it a few pumps to get the foam going and  wash your hands!
This is my bottle of soap.  I made it about a month ago.  I think it works great.

Let's clean the mircowave(the easy way)

Does your microwave ever get really dirty and have the hard to get off stuff?  Well sometimes mine does.  Like today food exploded in there and by the time I got back to clean it, the food was good and stuck!  So I put this trick to work:-)

I got this great idea from this site http://www.craftylittlegnome.com.  Maybe I am the last to hear of this great trick.

What you need:  a bowl and vinegar.  Oh yeah, a dirty microwave-even with the hard stuck on stuff!

What to do:  I pour a little vinegar into my bowl and microwave about 2 min(if its real dirty you may want a few extra Min's), then take out the bowl, next I take a wet paper towel while the vinegar is cooling off and start wiping out the microwave.  It comes off so easy!  Then I go back and dip the paper towel in the vinegar (or use a rag )and finish wiping down the microwave.  Wow, now it is so clean and it was so easy.  I didn't have to scrub and fight to get the gunk out!!!  Easy cleaning makes me happy, lol.

Ice cube painting great activity for toddlers and preschoolers

I say it over and over I love when I find things both my boys can do together.  Ice cube painting is one.   It is easy and fun for both my toddler and preschooler.  They both enjoyed this sensory painting experience.

What you need:

Ice cubes, water, food coloring-freeze over night.  Then you will need thick paper(we used poster board) and maybe some wipes or paper towel?

Ice cube painting

Ice cube painting
What to do:

Prepare and freeze ice cubes over night.  The next day when ready get out ice cubes and put into bowl.  Get paper ready(we did this activity outside).  You may want to grab something to wipe up some of the meted ice.  I had paper towels handy.  This is a little messy but the boys came clean after a bath and their clothes came clean after spraying stain remover on them and washing.
What I did for my 11 mo old was cut up an old blanket and taped it to his highchair.  He can't resist eating paper so this was the way to go for him.  He didn't really make a picture more just playing with the ice cubes anyways.  But both of them (3yrs old and 11mo old) enjoyed this.

Finger Paint Tree

I have seen pictures of finger paint trees using what looked like finger prints for the leaves of the tree and a hand as the trunk.  I didn't  go to a site to read how to.  I just went of the image's I had seen.

What you need: finger paints or just washable paints, and paper.

What to do:  Let your child put their hand down in the paint for the trunk,  help them if they are small like mine, then place hand on paper.  Next let them put their finger in paint to make finger print (or dots) leaves.  Last let dry.

What I did was frame the 2 we made.  I kept one and gifted one to my mother in law for her bday.  We both love them.

colored ice cubes in the tub

When I saw this idea I loved it.  Put food coloring & water in ice cube tray and freeze.  How simple is that.  Having  a 3yr and an 11 mo old that I bath at the same time it is hard to add fun stuff for both of them.  But with this they both can have fun in the tub.
I got this idea from http://www.mommysavers.com.

colored ice cubes in the tub

Both boys loved trying to catch and keep a hold of the ice cubes.  I had a big bottle of yellow food coloring I have been wanting to use up, so I only used one color but you could do all different colors...  I only wished I had made 2 trays so after the first ones melted I could have added the second tray.  I know I will be doing this again for the boys.
My tot, of course he had to taste the ice cube!

They loved these ice cubes and we have found different ways to have fun with them.

Paper Sensory Box

I haven't seen this done before, not to say someone some where hasn't had the same idea before.  My son during our scissor skills easter cross craft had decided to take the left over cut up paper and bulldoze it with his truck we got that morning at the dollar tree.

This is big brother that day we did the craft playing with his paper.  Well it went from this to a "paper box" created by my son.  He decided that he wanted to make a box of cut up paper to play in, similar to his rock box  we made last year.

What you need:  a Rubbermaid, cut up paper, and construction truck or 2!

What to do:  put cut up paper in box and then start playing!

My son has played with this everyday this week !  I love it because it is quieter than his rock box and its not as scary thinking of his younger brother eating a dropped piece of paper as it is a dropped rock.

I am a proud mommy of his creativity in creating his own play box!

Bunny Straws

I love this idea from bytesizedpieces.wordpress.com of bunny straws!  The straws on that site look great!  After reading it and seeing all what they did, I decided to simplify mine.

What you need:  The bunny peeps template from above site, scissors, and hole punch.  Oh, yeah a straw!

What to do:  Cut out the bunnies- I only used the large ones.  Then take your hole punch and punch out a hole for the straw.  Now you are done!
To me it kinda looks like the bunny is drinking through the straw:-)  We loved our mustache straws so much, I just couldn't pass this up.  I plan on using them for our Easter gathering this year.

After seeing Bento Better Lunches Apple Cars I knew my boys would love them.  How fun to turn some fruit into a car.  Easy and fun snacks are a hit over here at my house.  Apples happen to be a favorite fruit too.  I could not wait to see the boy's faces when they saw their Car Apple Snack!

Easter Tree from Dollar Tree

I bought this Tree and Easter eggs years ago to put out during Easter. Big brother loves to decorate it.  We go to the dollar tree often and they still sell them.  We got another one to put up for little brother so they can both decorate one next year.  What a great and simple Easter activity for kids.

He loves that tree:-)  We started using the tree for other holidays and just adding paper tags to decorate.

Vanilla candy coat over blueberries/dipped marshmallows

My son came to me yesterday asking to make chocolate covered banana pops.( we made these a while back)  I didn't have any bananas in the house(we are in need of a trip to the grocery store).  We have a jar of marshmallows out for decorations.  I told him we could dip those in chocolate and get bananas later.  He was not to happy about it but went along.  As we got everything out I saw our blueberries in the fridge.  I have never had a candy coating chocolate covered blueberry but why not try it?

What you need: candy coating vanilla or chocolate(we had vanilla already open so we used it), Sprinkles, marshmallows, blueberries, microwaveable bowl, wax paper, we used a fork to dip marshmallows-u could use a sucker stick or skewer..)

What to do:  add candy coating to bowl(we used two bars, we only wanted to make a few) and microwave for about a 1 or 2min but check in between.  Stir it up.  Now take the marshmallows and dip then lay on wax paper and add your sprinkle on top.  We did a our marshmallow's first.  With the leftover candy coating we added our blueberries to the bowl and stir lightly not to mash the blueberries up.  Then scoop out onto wax paper and spread a little.  Now add sprinkles.  Let sit about 20 min or until candy coating hardens.  You can put in fridge if you want?  Then you are ready eat one of your creations.    I was surprised how much I liked the blueberries and  he loves them.

I would like to add this was a special treat for us.  My son only had a few candy coated blueberries and one marshmallow the day we made these.  We do it fresh fruit just the way God made it!

We love Oreos over here.  They are one of my husband's favorite treats.  When a friend brought me and the kids some Oreo balls to try, I knew he would love them.  Of course the gifted ones did not make it until daddy got home so I set out to make him some to try.

My son loved Ponyo by this directer.  So when he saw the preview for Totoro he had to have it too.  I came across a site that gives you directions on how to make a Totoro out of a sock.  I made this for my son for Valentin's day and gave him the movie.  He loved it.

Calm down jar turned new sensory jar

I saw this great idea on this site-chasingthefirefly.wordpress.com for a calm down jar for kids.  They can use it when they are anxious or upset, not having a tantrum.  I have been wanting to try this out for some time, I finally got around to making one.

This is the calm down jar.

What you need:  A jar, glitter glue, glitter, water, and glue.

What I did:  Put about 1tsp of glitter in the jar and squeezed about half a glitter glue pen in the jar, then fill with warm water, shake it up, then add a few drops of food coloring.  I then poured a few tsp of clear glue in the jar.  Mix up.

I got it out to show to my oldest son the next day.  He thought it was so cool to shake and look at.  My youngest son 11months old saw us looking at the jar and wanted to look too.  I was holding him and the jar for him to look at it.  He loved it.  He has his own sensory jar and I spy jar, he thought he could hold this one too.  I felt bad for him.  So, started thinking and looking around the house for something to make him one.  I had a just washed out a peanut butter jar the day before and it was on the counter.  I decided to use it.  I did his the same way as the above jar.  I did hot glue the lid on.  I did not make his till he was napping.  My oldest was interested in what I was making so I let him watch.  He then wanted to look at our mason jar.  He started making me nervous even while watching him, that he would break it.  When I finished with my youngest jar, big brother said that's for me its not glass.  I wouldn't break it mommy.  So here mommy goes again looking through the house so they can both have their own plastic jar.  I found one that hand scrub in it and just transferred it to another glass jar and washed it out....  Now we have 2 plastic jars and one glass.  I was told by my oldest that it is mommy's jar.  Oh, he knows mommy needs a jar  to calm her at times, don't all us moms need one:-)

The new sensory/calm down jar.

The boys with the jar.  Love when I find something they can both enjoy.

Scissor skills-Easter egg and cross

I found this while searching online for Easter crafts for us to make and thought big brother will love this.  He will get to use his new scissors.  I was so wrong!  Even though he finished the craft he had no interest in it.  He had gotten a new "digger truck" at the dollar tree  that morning and all he wanted to do was dig up the pieces of paper.

Rolo Brownies

I had seen a picture of rolo brownie bites.  Looked like they baked them in muffin pan.  I didn't want to use a muffin pan.  I used a 13X9 in. pan.

What you need: Rolos(I had left overs from st Patrick's day.  I used them as gold for the st. Patrick's dayTreasure box we made.), and brownie mix.  I added sprinkles-optional.

What to do:  make brownie mix as directed.  Pour in the greased pan, then place rolos(without wrapper, hehe) in the mix, add sprinkles if you want.  Now bake as directed.  When done let cool and EAT!!!

Mustache "bombing"

Mustache "bombing"

I saw a pin on pinterest for "eye bombing"  they took googly eye and glued them in random place in their town (for ex.  a pc of fruit had eye on it).  So I have been on this "mustache craze" lately.  I know, I know so going with the crowd on this one(the 'stache thing).  I have been working hard on my son's 1st bday party and had printed out photo props.  Which included mustaches.  I had some that didn't cut out the way I wanted.  I decide what better time to try our own" mustache bombing" instead of eye bombing.

Big brother started out putting on one.

Then he got to sticking.( I just put tape on the back on the paper 'stache's)  He put them on my jars and picture frames.
Excuse my button frame it needs repair:-( no excuses I should have glued the button back on all the times I have out my glue gun. I always forget where I put the button, lol.  Don't want to leave it out and my oldest put it in the floor for the 11 mo old to get.
OK, back to mustache bombing.  He then said his picture needed one.
I told him to put one on the light switch.  He chose to put one on his Easter tree.  Then we ran out!  He wanted to keep sticking.  Looks like I will be printing and cutting more mustache's for him.  We had silly fun together doing this, what better way to waste time with your son.

Hope you and your kids can have some silly fun with this too!
