If you follow my blog you know its no secret we like to play in our food almost as much as we like to play in water. I love setting up food play because like water play it is great for both my toddler and preschooler to enjoy together.
What I used & did for our sensory Halloween food play: We had a box of fruit flavored cereal that the boys would not eat for me. I used this to fill up to large plastic bowls. I had fun Halloween plastic pieces from The Dollar Tree so I added those to the bowls. I got out 2 spoons and 2 bottoms to plastic pumpkins we have but you could use small bowls. I also had the 2 Halloween plastic buckets out for them. I then set the pool out on the back deck. I cleaned it out a little so it was safe for them to eat off of. I put the food bowls and buckets inside the pool. Last the boys jumped in ready to play.
Taking it all in.
Coming to play with mommy.
One more coming to play with mommy too:-) I had a seat right next to them in the pool and they included me in their play. I loved it. They brought me treats to try. Then we took turns filling up their treat buckets. My oldest ran around a little but my youngest stayed inside the pool for the most part. He enjoyed tasting the food, dumping it, filling the bowls back up...
By the end most of the food stayed in the pool. This made it easy for me to clean up!
I had so much fun playing with them. I loved watching them use their own creativity to guide our play with what I sat out for them. The boys did not fight and only took each others buckets a few times! This equal a hit at my house. Hope you and your family may have some food fun too.
