A few years ago we made liquid chalk. It quickly became a favorite way to paint and play at my house. Having 3 children it is fun to see each of them as they get older and enjoy things that maybe the year before they did not really get into or just were not old enough. This year little brother has really become fond of chalk and when introduced to liquid chalk he was thrilled to play with it. Regular, old fashioned chalk is a go to activity over here but when we make the Liquid Chalk Recipe it is a treat to the kids to play. It makes it a fun sensory play activity for the children. I decided to add a little holiday scent to the mix. We ended up with Sugar Cookie, Cranberry Mandarin, and Peppermint Liquid chalk paint to enjoy.
Now we had fun Holiday Scented Liquid Chalk to enjoy for some Sensory Art.
This sensory art project was the perfect open ended afternoon play for my children. Both 2 yr and 5 yr really enjoyed it.
The scented paint was a great sensory experience and the fun scents of sugar cookie, cranberry mandarin, and peppermint were great to get in the holiday spirit.
What I used:
Cornstarch, water, food coloring, oil scents, Cranberry Mandarin, Sugar Cookie, and Peppermint extract.
What I did:
I dumped cornstarch in a cup and added water and mixed. I poured it into a muffin tin. I colored and scented the individual cups of the muffin tin.
Please do come and visit us again. We would love to have you back.
All kids are different and only you can decide how you let your kids play. And with what materials you let them play with. My children are supervised when playing. Please keep this in mind with any post you read of mine!

I really love the idea of using cardboard too! We don't have a nice clean smooth lot so it makes for dirty paints-- this would solve the problem & reuse well! Thank you!
