Frogs and Snails and Puppy Dog Tail (FSPDT): 10+ Books For Toddlers

10+ Books For Toddlers

We love books at my house. So for this week's 10 things Kids Love I am sharing toddler books. We have reading areas set up in most of the rooms in the house.  Reading areas can be as simple as a stack of books and a rug. The kids can sit and look at the books on their own or you can join them and read them all the wonderful stories in each one.  Well, depending on how many books there are, maybe just a few. Reading with the kids is a wonderful bonding time.  It is also great for their growing vocabulary and curiosity of things around them.  Even with our nice collection of books we are always looking for more to read.  Below I have put together a list of our favorite toddler books.  I would love for you to comment on your favorites so we can check those out too.

Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes - fun book to sign with and the kids love it.

If You Give a Pig a Party - fun tale of a pig on a mission for a party.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? - loved my many children this story is great for animal and color recognition.

Little Blue Truck Board Book - fun story of a blue truck that meets animal friends along the way.

Llama Llama Red Pajama - great bedtime store for the kids.  Beware you may have to read it 3- 4 time in a row.

Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb (Bright & Early Board Books) - great to go over hands and fingers.

From Head to Toe Board Book - this book will get the kids moving.

Animals (Baby Touch and Feel) - even though it says baby this is still a favorite of my son even as a toddler.  Great way to explore texture.

These are just our top 10 books of my toddler recently and most of them were  very popular with my now preschooler at that age.  These books have been read over and over and most often in one sitting.  Please do stop and tell us what are some of your tots favorite books right now.

  1. Thanks we too love hungry caterpillar.
We tend to go through phases where there are 3 or 4 books he can't get enough of and then moves on to the next lot
Anything Thomas is always popular but the ABC Thomas is probably the winner at the moment
Currently Harry the Dirty Dog, There is a Hippo on my roof, Sleeping like a Tiger, There is a House inside my mummy and There's going to be a baby are the most read at the moment, we also haven't been allowed to pack away the Aussie Night Before Christmas or the traditional version of this yet
Thanks for the list, keen to try them out
