Fish Countdown Chain for Vacation

Does anyone else have kids who ask everyday for a week or two "are we leaving for vacation yet"? We are anxiously awaiting our upcoming beach trip.  To help the kids know how long until we leave, I made them this fun and easy Fish Countdown Chain for Vacation. Now they can count down the days until we leave, one fish at a time.

What I used:

craft foam sheets

tape

pencil

string

How to make:

I took blue, green, pink, and yellow foam sheets out and stacked them on top of each other.  I took my pencil and drew a simple fish. I then cut the outline out of the foam.

I then cut a piece of string.  I took tape and taped each fish to the string.  Oh, wait I added a simple eye and mouth with a sharpie pen first.  Once taped on the string, I hung it up for the kids to see.

All kids are different and only you can decide how you let your kids play. And with what materials you let them play with. My children are supervised when playing. Please keep this in mind with any post you read of mine!

  1. I can totally relate to this! This is a great craft to help young children understand the concept of time and how many more 'sleeps' there are til holiday.
