I added some bowls. My youngest had a plastic ball he was walking around with and he came over and dropped it in the water. I thought that might add a little extra fun. So my oldest 3yr went and got some more of our balls out of our ball pit to add to the water. They filled bowls, threw balls around, dump out water all over, splashed in it, and eventually ended up getting in it. They have a plastic pool but I think they were having more fun in this little "tub" of balls and bowls!
This is a great activity for color recognition, simple counting, gross motor, langue building, and sensory play! Wow, all that from such a simple set up.
Scooping and dumping the water was a favorite of the boys.
Counting the balls and going over the colors while they play added learning to playtime.
At this point we came in and got cold liquids to drink and cleaned up. I see us doing this again.

All kids are different and only you can decide how you let your kids play. And with what materials you let them play with. My children are supervised when playing. Please keep this in mind with any post you read of mine!
