Hello Readers of Frogs, Snails, and Puppy Dog Tails!

My name is Kristina and I am so excited to be sharing on someone else's blog today!  Every other day you will find me over at School Time Snippets where I mostly share our homeschool happenings; but since
homeschooling is a way of life... I tend to get a little crazy and share playtime activities, crafts, and everything in between.  I am a momma to 3 kiddos- an almost 6 year old son, 2 year old daughter, and 6 month old little guy-- so we have a lot going on over here!  Stop by and say "Hi!" when you get a chance!

TEN {Unconventional} Building Block ideas your kids (of all ages) will

Today, I am sharing TEN {Unconventional} Building Block ideas your kid/kiddos (of all ages) will love!  Your child can build with much more than store bought blocks-- check them out!

1. DIY {Up Cycled} Blocks
Don't throw away those empty diaper boxes, coffee cans, shoe boxes, etc!!  Re-use them by leaving them as is or pretty them up with paint and build!  We had quite the stash!

2. Jello Blocks
Not sure how I ended up with a collection of Jell-O boxes, but one day I looked in the cupboard and managed to have at least 7 boxes?!?!  As I sit here and write this, I am still baffled! Since I don't make Jell-o to eat it, I thought we would build with it!  And while your at it, eat some too! P.s.  You'll need to pick up a couple of boxes of Knox Gelatine.

3. Toothpicks & Marshmallows
Great way to add in some sneaky learning about cubes and/or to just have fun!  And if you happen to use Five In a Row, this is a great go-along activity for Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel!

4. Sugar Cubes
Learning about Skyscrapers?  Pyramids? Castles?  Igloos? Mix  up some glue with confectioner's sugar and egg whites and start building with Sugar Cubes.

5. Pool Noodles
It seems as if pool noodles are all the rage as of late.  Who knew they weren't just for the pool?!  Take a look on the web and there are a ton of unique ideas including I Can Teach My Child's idea to use them as Quiet Blocks-- perfect for your kiddo to use while others are napping and/ or to save your ears from the loud crashing wooden or plastic blocks make on hard floors.

6. Cardboard Stackers
If you have a stash of cardboard around, you can make these fun stackers like Meaningful Mama did.  Or, you can purchase a set from Amazon.

7. Plastic Cups
Pretty self explanatory, but those red or blue plastic cups aren't just for drinking, ya know!  How high can you stack your tower?  And if you are in the mood for more sneaky learning, check out how to make Reading and/or Math Power Towers at Fabulous in Fourth

8. Paper Collage
Design and build some pretty {and fun} 2D pictures using paper and glue. Under Construction shares a tutorial on how to make Watercolor Building Block Art .

9. Food
When your at the grocery store, pick up some green beans, carrots, apples, celery, and cheese and have a fun night building and tasting like they did at And Then There Were 5!

And if all else fails,

10. Toilet Paper and Paper Towel Rolls!
