Frogs and Snails and Puppy Dog Tail (FSPDT): Easy Recipe for Sensory Snow

Easy Recipe for Sensory Snow

So it's no secret I enjoy making sensory play recipes for my kids. Sensory Dirt, Glitter Sensory Paint, Playdough, Bath Paint... They are great to use in sensory play activities for children. Sensory play is a fun way for kids to learn and play. This sensory snow recipe is quick, easy, and kid approved.

What I used:

blue glitter, peppermint extract, baking soda, and water.

I also made a batch with Eucalyptus oil.  Both scents work great. This can also be beneficial for kids with head colds.  The scents help clear the nose while playing.

What I did:

I took a large bowl( one I bought at target a few years ago) and dumped one box of baking soda in to it.  I took blue glitter and sprinkled it in.  I added a few Tablespoons of water at a time until it was sticking together.  You do not want to add too much water.  Just enough to hold the powder together.  If you do add to much water, add more baking powder.

I am so excited to team up with the ever so creative and inspiring Heather of Crayon Box Chronicles to bring you a new series, Sensational Winter Sensory Play for the next 3 Sundays!  This sensory snow was the perfect medium for our first play activity.  Be sure to check back Friday to see how you can put this snow to use.

Please do come and visit us again. We would love to have you back.

All kids are different and only you can decide how you let your kids play. And with what materials you let them play with. My children are supervised when playing. Please keep this in mind with any post you read of mine!

  1. I wish we had fun stuff like this when I was a kid! I think my girls will still enjoy it - even if they are ages 9, 12 and 15! Awesome.

  2. I love this! We're hoping for some snow next week, but I find that my kids spend more time getting READY to play in the snow than they actually do in the snow. Last year we brought the snow inside, but this year I think we'll try this for some "snowy" fun without the cold! Thanks for sharing!
