Last year I really wanted to make the classic pom pom shooter with my boys. Traditionally I have seen the shooters made out of plastic cups. I set out to try this with much disappointment. It just didn't work for us. After a moment of clarity while putting clothes in the dryer, I knew just what I would do. And thus, the Pool Noodle Pom Pom Shooter was invented.
We have been enjoying these on rainy days, sunny days, and well...just about any day. We still have our originals, but I wanted to make some fun superhero inspired ones for the boys. Today I will share with you how to create your own superhero Pom Pom Shooter.
I love that duct tape comes in so many great designs and colors... They are the perfect tape to craft and create with. That is exactly what I used to make these superhero pom pom shooters.
I had to add red, blue, and yellow pom poms for playtime to go with the shooters.

I even got me my own sparkly pom poms to go with it.
There are so many way to create your own color or character pom pom shooter. I cant wait to make more. These are perfect for birthday parties and playdates. I do caution, these should be given to older children and I do supervise, or play too, with the kids. Small children may want to eat the pom poms or try to get the balloon off and swallow it.
Ok, with that said, let's play!
I was a little surprised how excited the kids got to have a superman shooter. But a good surprised!
They both went right to stuffing in the pom poms to shoot them out. Shooting them at each other does not hurt but can cause arguments about "he keeps shooting me".
So, when we where at the store, I picked up a blow up Superman for the kids to shoot. Somehow the one kid was still standing right behind the superman being blasted with pom poms but they were having fun, lol.
Even baby brother got to hold one and touch the scattered pom poms on the floor.
Since my boys run through the house with the pool noodle pom pom shooters this is great for gross motor skills, working on those large muscle groups. The pulling of the balloon and stuffing of the pom poms is great for fine motor skills, or those tiny hand muscles. Great to try and improve hand eye coordination too as you aim for a target. We even add color recognition by going over the color of the pom poms and count them too!
Wow, who knew playing could teach us so much.

All kids are different and only you can decide how you let your kids play. And with what materials you let them play with. My children are supervised when playing. Please keep this in mind with any post you read of mine!
