I have been wanting to try frozen paint with the kids for some time now. After seeing Debs Paintsicles. Frozen paint cubes for creative fun. on Learn with Play at Home, I knew the kids would love it.
We tried frozen DIY Apple Scented "paints" but they were not paint. So today we finally tried freezing paints. With Halloween coming up, we made Frozen Skull Paints.
What we used:
finger paint
skull ice cube tray
What I did:
I filled the trays with paint and put in the freezer. Once frozen, it was time to paint!
I just love how the frozen paints turned out. Big brother has been big on skeletons and skulls the last few weeks. That is why we made skull paints.
This was a great sensory art experience for the kids. It was also a fun process art project for them too.
Oh, it wouldn't be real if you did not see the kids fighting over the paints. Typical brothers, learning to share through play at my house.
Once we settled that there was enough paints for everyone, the kids painted some more. I had also brought out a few plastic snacks I had on the counter. The kids painted until the paints melted. I left the paintings outside to dry. I forgot about them and they sat out over night, eek. The poster board was bent from the moisture. Sad face, I had to trash them. I had hoped to cut fun Halloween shapes out of it. But, maybe next time we paint.
We hope you and the kids can have some fun with this too.
