First Day Of School Photo Ideas With Chalkboard Sign

This is big brothers first year in official Preschool!  He has been attending this school for a few years in the younger classes for a few days a week.  But it really hit me this year how much he has grown up now that he will be attending 5 days a week.  It is a sad and happy time for me as a mom.  I look forward to him growing into a great man some day but always want to hold on to my baby boy I brought home 4 years ago.

This year I made a new chalkboard sign for his first day of school pictures and it turned out great in the photos.

I made the sign the night before school started.  The next morning while waiting to leave we got the sign and took a few quick and cute photos.

He is such a funny guy when it comes to taking photos.  He always makes me laugh.  Taking first day of school pictures is now our school tradition.

How I made the sign:

I got a few chalkboard signs from discount school supply last year. I was so disappointed with them when I got them.  You could not write on it with chalk.  It was more of a glossy surface?  So they have been sitting in my office collecting dust.  I finally thought to use my chalkboard paint on them.  I applied a few coats of the chalkboard spray paint and now they are the greatest signs!   Add colorful chalk writing to it and it is now perfect for back to school photos.
You can make a great chalkboard sign from many things, a tray, plate, cardboard box...  They also sell many already made ones at craft stores.

Please do come and visit us again. We would love to have you back.

All kids are different and only you can decide how you let your kids play. And with what materials you let them play with. My children are supervised when playing. Please keep this in mind with any post you read of mine!
