M&Ms Candy Turkey Handprint- Thanksgiving crafts for kids

We just recently started doing a lot of hand and footprint art.  I love it because not only is it cute, it is great for my multiple age kids (1yr, 2yr,  and 5yr).  They all get to create an art project all their own by using their individual prints. With Thanksgiving fast approaching it was time for us to start working on a family tradition, handprint turkeys.  I made these handprint turkeys with my mom and love being able to make them with my kids too.  Since we make them each year I am always looking for new ways we can change them up a bit.  Here is just one we made them this year, M & Ms Turkey Handprints.

                                            

M&Ms Candy Turkey Handprint- Thanksgiving crafts for kids

What we used:

white paper, brown paper, brown crayon, m&m, DIY brown glue, scissors, red and orange marker.

What I did:

I traced baby brothers hand with a crayon.  I then colored it in.  I added a nose, eye, and legs.  I then glued M&Ms onto the fingers/feathers.  After it dried I cut the turkey out.  I glued this onto a brown piece of construction paper.  I got my DIY colored glue and traced the ground and a tree trunk.  I left it and let it dry.  

It was a few days later before I made it back to finish this.  Even though I made this for baby brother, my older kids 2 yr and 5 yr could have easily completed this project.  If time had not been limited and us not having several things going on, I would have waited and let them complete this for baby brother.  However, I had a moment when they were at school and I took advantage of it.  All that was left to do was glue the M&Ms on top of the tree trunk to look like fall leaves.

Now baby brothers space on the wall did not have to be empty  anymore.  All three of my boys now had hand handprint turkeys on the art wall.  Big brother had his Candy Corn Turkey and baby brother had his M&Ms turkey and I will soon post little brothers turkey too.

Out of the three versions we made this year I think this one may be my favorite. Now we have a art wall decorated for Thanksgiving and we can start getting in the spirit for the upcoming holiday.  maybe you and your kids can enjoy this activity too.
