My oldest 5.5yr has become very interested in counting everything! He seems to have a love for numbers. While shopping a few weeks ago I bought some Halloween bat erasers for him. I set up a Count and Drop Activity for him. This was also great for fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.
What I used:
50 bat erasers (1 pack)
clear tray
Halloween container
tongs
What we did:
I set this up for him during the little ones' nap time. He sat down and started counting and dropping the bats inside the container. This was great for him to practice counting up to 50.
For younger kids this can be a great fine motor skills activity as just a bat drop and no counting.
For the older kids you can even set up simple math with this setup. Put 2 erasers out and ask them to make 5. They would have to find 3 more erasers to get the right answer.
He had a lot of fun counting and dropping the bats. After a while he got tired of using the tongs and just used his hands. We hope you and the kids can enjoy this too.
Please do come and visit us again. We would love to have you back.

All kids are different and only you can decide how you let your kids play. And with what materials you let them play with. My children are supervised when playing. Please keep this in mind with any post you read of mine!
