This weeks Preschool Book Club is exploring Mix It Up! A new book by Herve Tullet.
We had so much fun with his book Press Here that we could not wait to read this one.

After reading the book a few times with the kids I knew just what we could do.  Fun Fingerprint and Handprint art.  Simple yet so much fun for multiple aged kids.  There are so many ideas bubbling in my mind for this book.  I hope to try a few more when we have extra time.  Things have just been crazy over here at my house. Sure you all know how that is!  This activity is perfect for the kids though.  Even when we do not have lots of time to prep.  Set the kids up and let them have fun.

Mix It Up!  The New York Times bestseller!

Accept HervĂ© Tullet's irresistible invitation to mix it up in a dazzling adventure of whimsy and wonder. Follow the artist's simple instructions, and suddenly colors appear, mix, splatter, and vanish in a world powered only by the reader's imagination. Tullet—who joins such greats as Eric Carle and Leo Lionni as a master of his craft—sets readers on an extraordinary interactive journey all within the printed page. Tullet prompts plenty of giggles in addition to a profound understanding of colors, and once again displays his unique genius and vision in a work that is a glorious and richly satisfying companion to Press Here.

What we used:

paint

white paper

pen and scissors

What to do:

Set out paint and paper for the kids.  Grab some paper towels for wiping off their fingers in between paint colors. Trace the child's hand and cut it out.

The fun part is letting the kids dip their fingers in the paint and make fingerprints on the paper.  My boys would do this all day. They love making prints with paint.

Mix It Up Book Inspired Fingerprint Art

We created a fingerprint artwork based on a picture in the book Mix It Up.  The kids just love this new book!  We are so thankful to have received a copy for free to use for this week's preschool book club.  Be sure to enter below for a chance to win your own copy!!

This book is great for going over colors and sharing what colors to mix to get more colors. The kids had fun making lots of prints and mixing some of the colors together.
